HEMATOLOGY ANALYZERS

As with chemistry analyzers, there are many types of hematology analyzers to choose from. There are several different types of technology used to quantify cell types, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Examples of the technologies used are impedance, laser-based, and optical fuorescence. An analyzer may use one, or a combination of these technologies to detect and enumerate the cells present in the sample. While the analyzers can provide a large amount of information about the patient, it is recommended to follow up with a manual examination to confirm readings, and review morphologies.
